Friends of Foremarke
Everyone who has a child attending Repton Prep is a Friend of Foremarke!
We have a core Committee which includes a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. We meet once or twice a term to arrange our social and fundraising events, and everyone is welcome to attend our meetings, not just Committee members. We particularly welcome new parents; it’s a great opportunity to meet other parents and to find out more about what we do. We aim to provide a varied social calendar as well as fundraising events, and we run the second-hand uniform ‘Stock Exchange.’
Our social events include Coffee Mornings, Parents’ Breakfasts, Chocolate Bingo, and our now famous biennial Foremarke Hall Ball. We also run the annual New Parents’ Wine and Canapés Welcome Reception, Christmas Fayre, Christmas Mulled Wine and Mince Pies event, school play and music concert interval refreshments, and Sports Days refreshments. Numerous smaller class events are organised by the Foremarke Form Friends, especially at Christmas.
Our fundraising activities aim to raise money for equipment that is ‘value added’ rather than essential to the school. Money is also raised for St Saviour’s Church (which serves as Chapel for the school) and various nominated charities, including most recently Rainbows Children’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK. School benefits have included gardening projects and equipment, musical instruments and stands, theatre lighting, and comfortable seating for the children in the library.
We publish details and updates on our activities in the school’s weekly newsletter the Prepton Press. This is emailed directly to all parents and can be downloaded from the school’s website, from the News and Events section. We can also inform parents directly by email, if they wish to be added to our Friends of Foremarke mailing list.
The Stock Exchange is open during term time and school holidays for buying and selling second-hand school uniform, (from both and Repton). It is run by parent volunteers from a portacabin next to Lower School. Opening times are advertised in the Prepton Press. Money raised from sales is split between Friends’ projects and St Saviour’s Church. We welcome all donations of school uniform in a good, clean condition; (if you require a refund on your sales, the individual pieces must be labelled with parents’ contact details).
Please note, due to COVID-19, the Stock Exchange will not be open until further notice.
