Foremarke double bass player achieves place in National Children's Orchestra

Many congratulations to Alistair Westwood (Year 6) who has just been offered a place as a double bass player in the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain.

During Michaelmas half term Alistair attended the East Midlands audition for the National Children’s Orchestra. Alistair performed two pieces to a panel of two, the lady being Mrs Vivienne Price who founded the orchestra. Alistair was accompanied on the piano by Mrs Bloor, our Director of Music, who reported on how superbly well he played. Alistair then had to undergo two sight reading tests. Alistair came out beaming and irrespective of what the result might be, he felt he had played well and was happy with the effort he had made to prepare for this. It was then a case of waiting … and then on Thursday, 1st December the good news came that he had been accepted into the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain! Alistair told Mrs Bloor the news just before the start of our concert at St Wystan’s Church and what a fabulous start to the evening it was!!
